Water (Aqua)

A natural solvent, water forms the basis for most skincare products. Water used to formulate skincare and other cosmetics is ultra-purified, and free from microbes, metals, toxins and other contaminants.

“Dehydrated skin is when skin lacks moisture. Interestingly, even oily skin can be dehydrated! Although water is a safe and common ingredient in skincare, simply adding water to your skincare products, or even sipping on water throughout the day, isn’t sufficient to rehydrate the skin.

The optimal way to rehydrate skin comes from a combination of Outer Skincare and Inner Skincare. When it comes to Outer Skincare, you want to look for a moisturizer that has ingredients called humectants that pull moisture into the skin (such as hyaluronic acid and glycerin), plus ingredients that support a healthy skin barrier and help to trap moisture in the skin, such as ceramides, prebiotics, postbiotics, squalane, and sunflower seed oil. When you think about hydrating skin through Inner Skincare, or what you put in your body, you want to consider adding ingredients to your diet that support a healthy gut-skin connection, such as polyphenols.”
