Lecithin

A lipid that serves multiple purposes in skincare formulations and has an excellent safety profile. It can be used as an emollient (skin softening ingredient), emulsifier (helps to mix water-soluble and oil-soluble ingredients together) and stabilizing agent. In topical skincare formulations, it is almost always derived from sunflower seeds and other plant sources, and helps with moisture retention in the skin.
